Does Olive place the order?
No. Olive finds your items, fills your Kroger cart, and stops. You review the cart on Kroger and tap Buy yourself. She never sees a payment method and never checks out for you.
Is my Kroger password safe?
Olive never sees it. You sign in on Kroger’s own site (OAuth); Kroger hands Olive a limited token that can add items to your cart and nothing else. No password, no card numbers, revocable from your Kroger account any time.
What savings does Olive show?
Only real markdowns — the difference between a promo price and the regular price, item by item. No invented percentages. Olive doesn’t clip digital coupons; clip those on Kroger for a little extra.
Are the prices exact?
They’re live Kroger catalog prices, so close — but loyalty pricing, coupons, and by-weight items (produce, some meat) can move the final total a little. That’s why every total says “about.”
Shopping with Olive
How do I add things?
Tell her, in whatever shape your week takes: a plain list (“milk, eggs, coffee”), a meal (“chicken tacos for four”), a budget (“3 dinners under $45”), or a craving (“something spicy”). She prices everything at your store and builds the list as you go.
What’s the Sunday cart?
An opt-in draft (drawer → Weekly rhythm). Every Sunday morning Olive plans your week from recipes you’ve saved and meals you’ve liked, prices it, and parks it for review. Load it or wave it off — nothing is ever sent to Kroger without your tap.
Will she swap things without asking?
No. When something’s cheaper or your usual pick exists, she shows the option and you choose. Hard rules you set (allergies, never-buys, diets) are the exception — those she enforces without negotiating.
What do “Best value” and “Your usual brands” mean?
Best value hunts the cheapest good option — store brands, sales, price per ounce. Your usual brands sticks to what you’ve picked before and only surfaces cheaper options as a choice. Flip it any time in the drawer.
Using Olive in Claude or ChatGPT
Can I use Olive inside Claude or ChatGPT?
Yes. Olive works as a tool your own AI can call. Add it once, then ask your AI to price a list or build your cart right in the chat. Setup for both is at shopolive.xyz/connect.
Does that cost anything?
No. Your AI does the thinking on your own plan, and Olive’s pricing runs for free. You don’t even need an Olive account just to check prices.
What can Olive do there?
Price a grocery list at your Kroger store with real sale savings, add items to your cart once you’ve connected Kroger, and take your feedback. Same rails as the app: real markdowns only, and you always check out on Kroger yourself.
Is my Kroger account safe when I connect it to my AI?
Yes. You connect Kroger to Olive once on shopolive.xyz and get a personal key. Your AI never sees your Kroger login, and the key can only ever add to your own cart — never place an order, never touch money.
When something goes sideways
Why couldn’t Olive find an item?
Usually it’s out of stock at your store, or worded in a way the search mangles. She says so instead of guessing — try a plainer name (“cheddar” beats “that nice sharp cheese”).
The cart total on Kroger doesn’t match Olive’s.
Kroger applies loyalty prices and by-weight adjustments at their end, so the numbers drift a little. Olive’s number is an honest estimate, not a promise — the Kroger cart is the final word.
